Lexy & Bruce's Fundraiser
100% benefitting Stand Up For Pits Foundation & Sharks 4 Kids

RAFFLE
Lexy and Bruce inspired Sarah Richard to educate her class about the importance of being kind to animals, to be open minded, without judgement and to treat all animals, all people equally with kindness.
She began by showing her class a video prepared by The DoDo of Lexy and Bruce then invited her 2nd Grade students to draw pictures and write stories about what they saw.
This fundraiser celebrates the power of education in making the world a better place.  Thank you Sarah and your amazing students for showing us all the lessons of love we can learn from the kids!

Sarah is a second grade teacher at Baker Elementary School in Altoona, Pennsylvania.  She has been teaching for 14 years and has always incorporated her love of animals and nature into the classroom.  Over the years, she has taught her students that there are many people who fear animals such as pit bulls and sharks, but a little dog named Lexy and her stuffed animal Bruce are showing the world that there is nothing to fear.
As a pit bull owner, Sarah understands the impact of discrimination and how it affects the lives of so many innocent animals. She rescued her pit bull, Harlow, 8 years ago and has encountered many instances where she was judged solely on her appearance. Unfortunately, many people in today’s society label pit bull “type” dogs as vicious and dangerous. This same stereotype affects the shark population as well. However, the only things that are dangerous are these misconceptions, as they lead to the loss of many innocent lives.
Sarah has always loved animals and believes she can use her voice in the classroom to teach children the importance of treating all living things and our environment with kindness and respect.  She wants her students to know that all life is precious. In the words of Rebecca Corry, “ALL discrimination is wrong, whether the discriminated against has two legs or four”…or in Bruce’s case, fins.

Sarah and her students are extremely honored to share their love of animals and nature and to participate in this benefit for two extremely worthy causes.  Through her teaching and this project, she wishes to inspire a new generation of animal advocates. Sarah’s hope is that her students will grow up to stand up for what is right, take care of our earth and respect all life.  Sarah is beyond excited and proud to stand with her second grade class to be a voice for the voiceless.

We are honoured to share with you all the original artwork by the 2nd Grade class of Baker Elmentary School.  ENJOY
